Siding Complete991 viewsThis pictures shows all of the siding installed, including the gables, which was a bit tricky. It also shows one of the corners trimmed out.

West Side959 viewsHere's a view of the side of the shed, from inside Bailey's run. Having the shed this close to the fence makes for some tricky work. We had hoped to side the wall before we set it up, but the way the walls are staggered didn't allow for this. At the time this picture was taken, we had one panel of siding to go on the front, and the partial panel left to go on the side you see here, as well as the gable ends, which also need to be framed out so there is a slight overhang.

Flashing New Door945 viewsHere the flashing is going around the new door to keep it weathertight.

Finished Shed906 viewsAnother view of the finished shed from a side angle. Eventually we will add some landscaping to soften the edges and foundation of the shed.

Priming finished, Painting started861 viewsThe priming is now finished, and we've painted the siding! If you compare this picture with those above, you'll see the siding has changed from a darker brown (which was the original primed color) to a lighter brown, which matches the color of our home. Notice we had already started using the shed at this point.

Starting the major assembly845 viewsWe continued outside on Wednesday afternoon. Cathy holds up "frame two" so it can be attached to "frame one" and the base. Before this whole project started, we had to do some semi-major leveling of the area, since it was on a gradual slope down toward our pond (most of our yard is sloping in some way).

Insidethe Shed829 viewsHere's a view with the door open. We added some hanging storage for long-handled tools to the left of the tractor. Eventually we will add shelving in front of the tractor as well.

Almost complete827 viewsWell, this is the part of the project we sort of forgot to take pictures since we were on a roll. At the time the next few pictures were taken, we were very close to complete. Here you can see an overview of the entire playground.

Turbo Tube Slide760 viewsThe Tube Slide is the highlight of this playground. As a relatively expensive option, we were going to leave it off, hoping to add it "someday" but then decided that this, unlike several of the other parts of the playground, was something William could use NOW and we'd get more value out of it just by adding it from the start. It assembled together with something like a million bolts, nuts, and washers. Thank goodness for air ratchets... In this picture, we hadn't yet finished the bottom of the slide so it's just resting on boards.

Rot repair741 viewsAfter some research we supported the joist, rebuilt the wall below, and patched in a new section of joist.

William checks out the situation713 viewsIn the foreground, William poses with great anticipation of his new playground. In the background, you can see the status at this point-- most of the lower deck is now complete, except for the "barrier boards" which make up the railings.

Work on Main Railing702 viewsNext work began on the angled railing. First, the bottom newel post was cut to length and installed with lag screws into the framing of the stairway. Next, a new oak board was ripped to proper width, and mitered to fit over the top of the stairway framing. Finally, the bottom shoe rail was installed on top of this board.
