Fighting Lancers310 viewsThis Fighting Lancers banner has hung in the gym for decades. The Lancers mascot stopped being used for high school sports in 1988, and was retired completely in 2007.

Band Room308 viewsWhen Tim was in 7th grade, this was the band room, and the choir room was across the hall. When the elementary came over, this became the combined band/vocal room.

More plumbing306 viewsVery similar to the other picture above, but for the Girl's bathroom. Notable how 'sexist' the thinking was when this was built in the 1930's: The guy's version of this was accessed from the boy's bathroom. The girl's version was accessed through the adjoining classroom. The thinking, I'm sure, was that the janitor would be male and couldn't go into the girl's bathroom easilly to work on stuff... Rumor had it that you could sneak in here and peep into the Girl's bathroom, Porky's-style...

Shop Room303 viewsAs noted above, 'shop' was no longer offered at M-T in recent years, so the portions of the room which didn't become the distance learning center kind of reverted to a messy storeroom. When the building was first built in the 1930's, this area, along with the band room coming up, was the school gym and auditorium -- you can still see the Proscenium arch in the upper right of this picture.

Back View303 viewsAnother view from the back, showing the shop/old gym. The silver walk-in freezer was added when Tim was a senior in 1988. Some of his classmates helped build it...

Hall view of 'gym wing'301 viewsThe other hallway going along the front of the gym. Tim's mom's classroom would be the first door on the right.

The stage301 viewsLots of memories from this stage-- class plays, concerts, graduations...

Lunch Room299 viewsCathy: "You guys had a dedicated lunch room?" Tim: "Where else would you eat?" Cathy: "Our school ate in the commons area..." Tim: "Uhm, have you seen a 'commons area' in this school??" <g>

Small office299 viewsThis room has some special memories for Tim. In 1982, he took a summer computer class and was exposed to computers for the first time. Then he started 7th grade and the school's only two computers, and Apple II+ and a //e, where in this room. Being bitten by the computer bug, he continues to pay the mortgage by being a nerd today... Shortly afterward this became the guidance counselor's office.

Commemorative displays297 viewsA 'retired' Lancer jersey from an NCAA All-American player from the 70's (Al Dorenkamp), as well as the USA Olympic bobsled jersey of a high-school-mate of Tim's (John Kasper).

Back of School297 viewsHere's the "back courtyard". Off to the right was the original gymnasium, which was then used to become a band room and shop room.
