"Before" picture: Mirror and light117 viewsHere's another picture of the old flourescent light fixture. The three wall switches control an overhead light, vent fan, and heater, but not the flourescent light.

Shop Room tool area116 viewsSince the high school left 20 years ago, the shop room was largely converted into a high-tech distance learning facility (which for some reason I didn't take a picture of). But parts of the 'old' shop room still exist, like this tool storage area, which, although much messier than our old shop instructor Mr. Wiebenga would have kept it, is about the same as I remember it.

Broken Pole114 viewsThis pole was one of the luckier ones -- only the top portion broke off. I overheard a lineman say that the pole itself didn't need replacing.

Commemorative displays114 viewsA 'retired' Lancer jersey from an NCAA All-American player from the 70's (Al Dorenkamp), as well as the USA Olympic bobsled jersey of a high-school-mate of Tim's (John Kasper).

During: Sink/counter area113 viewsAt this stage we've removed all the tile from the room (except for behind the toilet, which we tried to keep in service as long as possible), tore out the old countertop, installed the new sink/countertop, and tiled the entire tub area and back wall. The mirror was removed to protect it during tile removal.

More plumbing113 viewsVery similar to the other picture above, but for the Girl's bathroom. Notable how 'sexist' the thinking was when this was built in the 1930's: The guy's version of this was accessed from the boy's bathroom. The girl's version was accessed through the adjoining classroom. The thinking, I'm sure, was that the janitor would be male and couldn't go into the girl's bathroom easilly to work on stuff... Rumor had it that you could sneak in here and peep into the Girl's bathroom, Porky's-style...
