Completed rails after finishing499 viewsThe finished view, from the top! We used a Minwax stain finish, which matched the color of our floors and related trim. Then we installed three coats of Minwax rub-on polyurethane. This was the first time we used rub-on poly, and we loved it. It was a joy to work with, especially with so many hard-to-reach surfaces to cover.

View down the silo499 viewsIt's really interesting to see something like this, especially growing up at the tail-end of the cold war. These missiles were placed in silos all over South Dakota and elsewhere, and were a large part of our "Balance of Terror" defense. This particular silo now has a peculiar "sunroof" over it so you can view it. Thanks to the glare, it's also somewhat of a self-portrait of Tim...

Heading into Howard Lake498 viewsWe chased the train all the way to Howard Lake, where it turned around. Since Highway 12 and the tracks run fairly parallel, we were able to get many good views of the train during its journey.
