Historically, this room was the "coal room" for the boiler room, and was later used as a student lounge. Evidently on the last day of school, they let students take some of the decorated ceiling tile panels, hence the missing ones.

The Engine500 viewsHere's the engine itself. At Keystone, our "turn around" point, they stopped the train, disconnected the engine, and moved it to what was formerly the rear of the train. So on the way back to Hill City, the engine was facing the "right" direction. This was different than the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge which we took a few years earlier in Durango, Colorado, where they turned the entire train around on a wye.
