Swing BeamOn Thursday, we continued on by working on the swing beam. In the garage, we assembled the "A-frame" for the end support, as well as drilled all the holes through the timber and attached the swing hangers. Here, at the playground site, Cathy checks out the frame right as we get ready to attach it to the beam.

Insidethe ShedHere's a view with the door open. We added some hanging storage for long-handled tools to the left of the tractor. Eventually we will add shelving in front of the tractor as well.

The "Pagoda"The bus tour took us around the racetrack itself, which was cool. The racetrack is called "The Brickyard" but I never knew why. Turns out the whole thing used to be paved with bricks. Most of them are still under the current asphalt surface. The picture to the left shows a new "pagoda" which was built for scorekeeping and the press. Evidently in years past (the track is almost 100 years old) there was an actual Japanese pagoda in the same location.
