Penguin and Puffin CoastAnother unique exhibit was the Penguin and Puffin Coast, which was brand new for the season we were there. The penguins and puffins were so close to you you could have touched them (I might have tried if it wasn't for the zookeepers nearby).

Always a cutieIn the back of this picture, you can see the "bird cam" we had rigged up underneath our deck, which we monitored the progress of two bird's nest in early summer 2006.

Orange MIThese MI's were produced for the Iowa Highway department, and therefore came from the factory in "Highway Orange". See the next picture for more information.

Finished FoundationThe finished foundation! The plywood went on very smoothly, and then we cleaned up the large piles of dirt excavated from under parts of the foundation. Finally, Tim got out the ladder to prune back some low-hanging tree branches in preparation for the rest of the building's construction. For the remainder of the week, we had a nice "raised wooden patio" as time commitments, as well as the weather, didn't allow us to get any further with building.
