Deer at the Tower581 viewsAs were were walking the trail around Devils Tower, we ran into a couple of deer just yards from where we were standing. The pictures below show them, amongst the many boulders surrounding the tower.

Minuteman Missile581 viewsPerhaps most interesting, however (perhaps due to growing up at the tail-end of the Cold War, with Ronnie Regan at the helm) was this Minuteman missile. These missiles were placed in silos all over North and South Dakota, and were a large part of our "Balance of Terror" defense. It's good to see so many of them decommissioned now. Supposedly they're also turning two old silos near the Badlands into a National Park.
