US Botanical Center Conservatory511 viewsThis picture is actually not from the zoo, but at the US Botanical Center Conservatory near the Capitol building. But, it seemed to fit in well with all the animal pictures. We only had about 45 minutes at the center, but it was a beautiful place and featured many lovely plants.

Posing with a view508 viewsThis kind of looks like one of those "fake background" studio pictures, but it isn't.

Dark Tunnel507 viewsThe tunnel right by Needle's Eye (and probably the reason we missed seeing it the first time, since it was the first tunnel we encountered upon entering the park).

Korean War Memorial506 viewsThe Korean War Memorial is quite unique in that it contains many statues of soldiers in action. We visited this memorial at dusk, which contributed to the surreal nature of the experience.

Udvar-Hazy Center: National Air and Space Museum504 viewsOne of the hilights of our trip was visiting the National Air and Space Museum's new Udvar-Hazy center. This museum just opened in December 2003, and is located near Dulles Airport. We weren't sure we'd have time to get there, but we were sure glad we did.

Grandma and William on 1880 Train504 viewsWe all love trains, so once again we took the 1880 train. The brochure admitted that the name was pretty much chosen randomly, since the railroad's equipment is probably closer to the 30's and 40's... But who cares about details, right?

DC from Old Post Office Pavilion503 viewsWhat's actually a much better view than the Washington Monument is the Old Post Office Pavilion. It has much larger "windows" (actually there open screens), it isn't nearly as crowded, and the views are just as nice. This picture shows Pennsylvania Avenue looking toward the Capitol.
