WWII Memorial from Washington MonumentHere is the WW II memorial as seen from the top of the Washington Monument. It sits at the east side of the monument's reflecting pool, which for some reason was empty while we were visiting.Jan 15, 2006

WWII MemorialWe took a lot of pictures here since this memorial was brand new -- it was dedicated only 2 months before our vacation. We both felt this memorial was very well done, and a beautiful place to honor the many who served in this conflict. The memorial incorporates a lot of water and fountains, adding significantly to the beauty.

DC from Old Post Office PavilionWhat's actually a much better view than the Washington Monument is the Old Post Office Pavilion. It has much larger "windows" (actually there open screens), it isn't nearly as crowded, and the views are just as nice. This picture shows Pennsylvania Avenue looking toward the Capitol.

The White HouseThe most prestigious address in the world -- the White House! We were unable to tour it due to security concerns, although both of us have toured it in the past. Not a bad pic, considering I quickly snapped it through the fence.Jan 15, 2006

Library of CongressHere Cathy poses in the atrium of the extremely elaborate Jefferson building at the Library of Congress. This area is literally a shrine to knowledge, with symbols of knowledge throughout.
