Museum of Westward ExpansionUnderneath the arch, under the grass, is a large museum called the Museum of Westward Expansion. It chronicled the reason for the arch's existence -- the commemoration of the Lewis and Clark expedition and the settling of the West, in which St. Louis played a key role. There was also a small model of the arch, which a friendly employee offered to snap our picture near.

It's cramped at the Top...Fortunately, we didn't have too many people with us at the top, because that room is actually very small.

Arch and Old CourthouseA picture of the arch, framing the dome of the old courthouse which stands nearby. This is such an obvious location to take a picture that it has to be one of the most photographed spots in St. Louis.

Posing near the ArchWe were thrilled the way this picture turned out. Our new digital camera has "remote" feature, and we improvised a "tripod" out of some objects we were carrying.
