John Deere World Headquarters395 viewsOur final stop in Moline was at the John Deere World Headquarters. There is a large exhibition area at the headquarters, which, like the Pavilion, has a mix of old and new Deere equipment. It was a lot of fun to look at.

John Deere Collectors Center306 viewsMore beautifully restored tractors at the Collectors Center. There were also some old John Deere signs on the walls as you can see in this picture.

Inside the Deere Collectors Center283 viewsInside the collectors center. We spent quite a bit of time here. Each tractor is on loan from the owner, and they get new exhibits rotating through periodically.

Foundation227 viewsThe hardest part about the foundation was getting it all level. We laid out a level reference line over what we thought was level ground, but it ended up having about a 10" slope. Since we are building under several trees, height was a concern. We ended up excavating a lot of dirt to level out the site.

Door installed and Trim Priming226 viewsThe next step was to install the roll-up door, which was fairly straightforward, and install the trim around the opening. Then we needed to finish priming all of the bare wood. The siding was pre-primed, but all of the trim, soffits, and fascia boards needed priming. Here Cathy primes the trim near the roll-up door.

Side View225 viewsHere is a view from the side of our home. The pond is shown here, and is actually "L" shaped, framing one corner and most of one edge of our yard. The pond has been a wonderful natural element-- ducks, geese, a large turtle, and many other animals have been frequent visitors, and have been fascinating to watch.

Indy 500 Museum218 viewsInside the museum itself was car after car of winners of many of the 500 races. I'm not sure how they have collected all these -- some were replicas but most were the actual vehicles. In this picture, Tim sits in a replica which you were actually allowed to enter.

Mom's Profile214 viewsDad shoots a profile pic of a very pregnant Cathy, with Grandma and William in the foreground. We had no idea exactly how "last minute" this profile picture was, as in an hour or so we'd have the baby delivered.
